Alpha Dog Grooming: How It Started
I opened Alpha Dog Grooming in January 2012 after completing my training at scruffy pups training school. I achieved a distinction for City and Guilds Level 3 in canine styling which is the only recognised dog grooming qualification. Alongside actually learning how to groom, the qualification also required us to learn in depth canine health and safety, how to handle aggressive, nervous and elderly dogs in the salon, which products should and shouldn’t be used and how to health check your dog so we can let you know if we think your pup may need to see a vet!
I started off my grooming journey in a little Renault Clio and a table bought from Ebay, grooming from clients kitchens and front rooms! After that first LONG year I managed to buy a mobile grooming van which helped me build my loyal client base, most of which have stuck with me from the very beginning, of which I am most grateful and proud of. It was then I decided to get a little Alpha dog of my own, Alba our Old English Sheepdog. Most of my regular clients are very familiar with her as she took residence in the front of the van greeting every man and his dog on the way! After a few years in the van, things quickly progressed and business built, which enabled me to move into my first premises on Station Road in Eaglescliffe and of course Alba came too!
These last few years would not have been possible without the loyalty of my human and doggy clients and for that i am most thankful. I hope to meet lots of new faces and wagging tails in the next chapter of our Alpha dog grooming journey!
